Meet the Team: Jerry Taylor Shares His Thoughts, Sources, and Favorite Betting Memories

OUR Meet The Team series penetrates the minds of some of WLB's brightest stars with their favorite resources, valuable knowledge and best betting memories shared with Jerry Taylor ( @ thefurlongpole ) following.

When did you first start betting? Can you remember your first bet?

I'm old enough to remember that your bet on football on Saturday should be at least triple.

The Red Rum Grand Nationals were mesmerizing with a young guy, I took part in some rallies on my street.

What sports or league do you focus on and bet on?

Football - I like to specialize in the Scottish leagues as I feel that prices in the lower leagues are more attractive

Horse racing is my passion and preference - jumping, although in recent years I have become a little more fond of the apartment.

What are the sites or sources that you use to subscribe to them?

Oh, different. Club info and Twitter highlights are useful for the Scottish leagues. I also like to pick up some of my personal messages and try to filter out any bias.

I use tracker AtTheRaces to alert me to attention-grabbing looks I have noticed, or horses that fit the profile of a trainer for any suitable future races.

What websites do you like the most?

Soccerway , Soccerbase , WhoScored and Football data when focusing on football.

As for the races, the site Racing Post and also i use AtTheRaces .

What statistic do you consider the most important?

In football, the current kits, xG and all the shots and details that are now available.

In horse racing, if you spot a great student demanding £ 7, you can make quick money by getting attached to him or her. This is an important advantage if they are almost as good as their peers.

Are there any statistics or trends that you think are irrelevant?

Historical confrontations, I believe, are of limited importance.

Sometimes players (myself included) seem to be overreacting to rumors of players missing from teams, especially recently with COVID. Most teams can still end up with a strong XI.

What's the biggest lesson you've learned in your betting?

Funky accounts or multipliers are good for small bets, but over the years it is easier to make a profit while staying simple.

The more time you devote to research, the more success. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.

Why is value important in betting?

If you know the league and expect the team to open at 4/9 and they are initially rated at 11/11, place a bet accordingly. They may not all win, but you can end up dine at that price. edge?

  • Specialize in the league.
  • Be selective, don't bet too much every day.
  • Follow the discerning ones, heed the advice.
  • Try to go against the current from time to time, swim against the current.
  • Insanely big bets sometimes win.

What's your biggest bet on a win and what will you spend it on?

My first big bet came when the great Everton side faced impostors in the Cup Winners' Cup final at Rapid Vienna. He bought my first car.

Are you reviewing your bets and keeping track of your winners / losers?

Yes, I'm trying to replicate the winners trick, analyze the losers. Profit or loss is extremely important to track and track regularly.

How do you deal with losing bets?

I understand that all bets cannot be won. As long as I do the right thing, use a betting plan and get a good price, it should be okay in the long run.

Win or Lose - I love getting out in the fresh air, kicking a ball, or hanging out with Spotify music.

What's the best part about betting?

Obviously, it's nice to win money for yourself. Lately wins, when you know that others have supported your opinion and followed your choice, it is very pleasant when they come.

I especially love the 100 / 1+ winners, don't we, all of us, I hear you say!
