Hodgson provides information on Zaha's injuries ahead of Crystal Palace Derby - Brighton

Hodgson provides Zaha injury update ahead of Crystal Palace vs Brighton derby

Roy Hodgson confirmed in his pre-match conference that star player Wilfrid Zaha has returned to training, but on his own, and does not know if he will play in the derby with Brighton on Monday or will miss it.

Zaha had missed two previous games for Palace with a thigh injury and, as is often the case, the team felt his absence by losing both games.

Hodgson, speaking about Zach at his pre-match press conference, said of Nigerian International:

“He is still suffering from injury, there is no doubt about that. The doctors and physiotherapists are very reluctant to make appointments, but he tries very hard to get back as soon as possible. He has good recovery abilities, so I hope the prognosis will be completely different from the prognosis for recovery. ”

Roy Hodgson also reached out to a banner posted outside the Palace training base this week demanding a change in the club's "pandemic of apathy" and "restore pride, ambition and vision."

Hodgson expects fans to be critical of when things go wrong and agrees that the club needs to do better.

He said:

“Well, I haven't seen that (banner). I don't think it lasted very long, but I certainly heard about it. I think you expect the fans - when you give a couple of performances like the last two, which were way below our expectations - to react and be critical of the performances.

“I would certainly deny that this is a lack of interest or desire on the part of the players. We cannot deny that we did not play well enough to get results in the game, but this is also a fact of life.

"But I would deny it because the players were apathetic or didn't want to do better, because every day I see in the training field how hard people are working, how well they are."

Winning the derby will bring much-needed joy to the South London club.
