- The match between Derek Chisor and Joseph Parker will take place on May 1, 2021.
- Chisora and Parker were scheduled to fight on October 26, 2019, but Parker was eliminated from the fight due to injury.
- Parker loses to Junior Fa, while Chisora lost to Alexander Usyk in her last fight.
Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker will face former WBC heavyweight title contender Derek Chisora on May 1 in an as-yet-to-be-determined location, most likely on British soil.
The fight will be a major event hosted by Matchroom and DAZN. It will be shown on DAZN worldwide, excluding the UK, Ireland, China, New Zealand and Samoa.
Parker and Chisora originally planned to fight each other on October 26, 2019 at the O2 Arena in London, England. However, the New Zealander abandoned the fight after falling ill. David Price ended up fighting Chisora, and the latter knocked out Price in four rounds.
Chisora said after the announcement of the fight:
War is coming

Chisora lost a 12-round unanimous decision to WBO's mandatory heavyweight contender Alexander Usik last October. The 37-year-old British heavyweight contender has previously won five of his last six fights, four by knockout, and his only defeat in that period was at the hands of Dillian White.
Despite not being the most popular heavyweight contender, Chisora has always been a playable opponent and no one could take it for granted. He has a huge fan base and is a big name in England which fits well for this DAZN show. He has the strength and experience to create challenges for Parker, who still wants to beat heavyweight gold once again.
After losing to Vitali Klitschko in 2012, Chisora no longer competed for the world title. Chisora's War has a record of 32-10 with 23 KOs. He was knocked out only three times by David Haye, Tyson Fury and White.

Parker is the first heavyweight boxer from New Zealand and the Pacific Islands to win a major world boxing championship. He won the WBO heavyweight title by defeating Andy Ruiz Jr. in December 2016. Parker successfully defended the title twice before losing the belt to Anthony Joshua in a title unification fight in March 2018.
Earlier this month, Parker announced that he was parting ways with longtime coach Kevin Barry. Barry has worked with Parker for the past eight years, taking the New Zealander to the top of the division. But Parker's declining performance left doubts as to whether Barry could bring Parker back to the top of the division. After numerous calls for Parker to change his sneakers, they both agreed to part ways.
Parker is currently training in the UK with former world champion Andy Lee. The former WBO middleweight champion is Tyson Fury's cousin and Fury's assistant coach. The 36-year-old left-hander also coaches Irish prospect Paddy Donovan and middleweight Jason Quigley. Parker hopes this change in the team will bring him back to fight for the title, and beating Chisora should be the first step towards that.
