Birmingham - Derby | Friday 10 e September 2021, 20:00 | Sky sports
With a national team hiatus until at least next month, we're resuming the league this weekend and it kicks off Friday night when Birmingham welcomes the Derby to St Andrews. It was a decent start to the season for both sides in its own way, with the Blues sitting just outside the playoffs, while Wayne Rooney's preseason knockout favorite has just lost one championship match so far. ... Rooney will be jealous of what Lee Boyer achieved on the day of the transfer deadline, when he managed to lure Troy Dini to his kids club from Watford.
Having received a significant pay cut, he is now battling the likes of Lukas Yutkevich, Scott Hogan and Chuks Aneke for a spot in the starting lineup. He has only 25 minutes of competitive football under his belt since the first month of the campaign with Watford, so he will likely be represented from the bench.
The Rams didn't have a handover deadline or anything like that, and in this crazy period there was no coming or going. Having managed to add Sam Boldock and Phil Jagelka to their team a few weeks earlier was considered a great achievement given their financial woes, so Rooney probably wouldn't be surprised that he wasn't able to add anyone else. However, they are currently only available to free agents, so they can add one or two more people outside of the normal transfer window dates.
Despite having a good start to the season, Birmingham still lack their first home win of the campaign, at least in the league. They lost to Stoke and lost to Bournemouth, so adding Deaney could help fix that. The Derby also experienced mixed conditions on the road: a hard-earned victory at Hull, but also a final loss to Peterborough, a game in which they were twice inferior in the allowed time, in the table of results.
Birmingham is definitely seen as a club with the potential to make the playoffs this season. Of course, since Boyer entered the building, they have developed a more winning mentality after an unexpected fight led by Aitor Karanka. That's just three league losses at 15 for Boyer since hiring last March.
Birmingham is the favorite to win on Friday night and has a chance of winning, but so far they've been suffering a bit from the cold to be absolutely sure of their chances. The 5-0 win over Luton was a bit of an odd result and as close to perfection as possible, but they are still finding their feet.
On a personal note, I've had a bit of fun with the card markets lately, and I'm now ready to share this betting country to see if they want to join. In the player-specific card market, you can only participate in TV matches, in which case the prices for them will be higher
Getting into the game early is very important, as often the players who have to start end up being much larger than those who are unlikely to do so.
There is always some degree of speculation backed by player card markets. The fact that someone has already received quite a few orders does not necessarily mean that they will do so in a game like this. You have to consider everything.
The first pant I'm going for is Troy Dini, which will be booked at 15/2 (Bet365). This is his first game since the signing of the contract and for the club of his childhood, so emotions will be high. He could start on the bench, so there are risks in these markets, but even if he does get out, he will get stuck and possibly take off his shirt if he scores. Context is the key.
Craig Forsyth is banned for Derby this episode after an incident at Nottingham Forest before the international break. He has been the main left-back this season, so this gives Lee Buchanan a chance to return to the squad. He played on halftime with England in the Under-25, so we won't be as fresh and he will be keen to impress Rooney to try and make that position his own. I think 5/1 ( Bet 365 ) that he gets the card is too good to resist.
The third and final booking game that I like is probably the one I'm most confident about, and that's Christian Pedersen on 9/2 ( Bet 365 ). This guy loves to get stuck and never dodges a tackle. He already has three reservations from five league matches this season, so the price should be much lower based on that, especially considering you have some of them at 15/8 and 9/4. which offers no appeals
It is also worth noting that even if you support a player who needs to be booked, you will still be paid money if the player receives a direct red card. You are limited as to which bookmakers offer this type of markets, so if you are limited Bet 365 like me, then it can be frustrating!
Birmingham - Derby - Troy Dini will receive a warning (15/2 Bet365)
